[insert art related ordinary ovations + funny stories about daily PCAL'ings + a mini rant about my writing teacher]

-----------> *check it*

Get your foot off my throat
Your eccentric demeanor more apparent from down here
How you stand on the shoulders of giants
Only to crush us in infinite wisdom of the successors

It’s a one woman show
Tipping her hat for another applause
My neck is the stage
Suffocate me and my integrity!
As the oxygen to my brain depletes
You grow excited with intent to perform

To fill my head with your thoughts
Us little people have nothing to give anyhow
We’re just the audience yelling for more
From below

i am so frustrated.

Fifteen

[i know, i forgot to post yesterday, i am ashamed and the nonexistant post will now reside in the bermuda triangle. have fun looking for it.]

ordinary ovation time!

  • slept in till 10, thank you GOD

  • had a one-time 5 hour workshop titled "Body as Metaphor" -- we made packing tape figures (which i've used before) but my piece was like... incredibly kick ass and i'm still evolving it. gotta love art school.

  • we walked to westport for KC's best ice cream and it was aight

  • my tea stained paper looks SICK and i'm almost finished with tweaking my lino's!!

  • tomorrow is MONDAY *meaning, i get to drool over GI Joe for three hours*

  • and i bought a pin with THE BIRTH OF VENUS by Botticelli on it for a buck!

BOOYAH SUCKAHZ.

yayayayayayayayayay. other than life drawing craziness, yayyyy!

Thirteen

was a good movie...

  • i finished my linoleum prints today. i can tell pretty much everyone is jealous. how fun. : b

  • it's friday so we have a later curfew-- MIDNIGHT! livin' on the edge...

  • OH YES. OH MY GOODNESS. so, there's another class during our morning printmaking session that works in the studio with us! and and and there's this dude (who's really tall and built) and we call him G.I. Joe because we don't know his real name. WELL, i was working on my lino print and had one of them next to my work station while i was inking and he came by and talked to me. he hadn't said a single word (to anyone in his class or our's) and he asks, "how'd you get all the different colors?" (in my picture) and i explained how i'd carved away and printed with different ink each time, etc. and he said, "oh, so you're doing a suicide." and i was like *duhhhh? sure?* blah blah blah much printmaking lingo later, he went away and most of the girls working near me had definitely noticed. OH. let's just clarify that i look like sh!t today in my old PH t and baggy pants. anyways, later, just before going to lunch, i stopped and sat with him while he was working on one of his prints so we talked about what major he was in and about what his class assignments were. everyone was walking past and completely eavesdropping all over the place on their way to lunch and i said i had to go eat. he said, "in the cafeteria??" and i'm like *ehh, yaaaa, it's aight* and he's all excited about their food and such. funny. so we said our goodbyes and i shall hopefully see him on monday! farewell joe.

i realized today, that we only have a total of six three-hour classes in our writing liberal arts courses. HOW UNFAIR and INSIGNIFICANT.

{justtakesomeofthattimeoutoflifedrawingalready...}

he doesn't really look like that; i think it's the gun.

Or running myself into the ground?
REGARDLESS:

  • my linoleum kicks so much artsy fartsy A$$
  • my writing teacher loves me
  • tomorrow's friday (TYFJ)
  • the cafeteria food is damn good for breakfast
  • sondy's going to visit tessa and me sometime
  • i bought two shirts from the KCAI art store, WOOT!
  • i'm GOING TO SLEEP

life drawing was ok. not terribly great for anyone really, but not dismal.

that being said.

today was only three hours (ha, only) of printmaking and then three hours of our liberal arts course-- "Writing Without a Net." Victoria Whateverherlastnameis WAS GREAT, CRAZZYYY, BUT GREAT. She's definitely a gold mine of knowledge and extravagancy.

In an hour and a half it's back to Ty Wilson's life drawing where, who knows?, maybe I'll draw the model with tatoos or the old fat lady!

lolz.

my brain is starting to work into overdrive with all these expressive mediums...

YEP. We got the fat lady. She wasn't huge but not slim... lol.
But really, LIFE DRAWING IS SICKNASTYAMAZINGLYFUN. no lie.

'09!

todaytodaytoday........

*THE WORK BEGINS*

  • i think most people are starting to like me because i'm everyone's ally, so that's good
  • printmaking started and theresa seems really nice but hard to read
  • i'm sitting in the air conditioned library : )
  • dinner's in less than an hour
  • my plate (in printmaking) will be printed tomorrow-- we'll see how it turns out
  • LIZ bought an ethernet cord, THANK YOU JESUSSSS
obviously my ordinary ovations are a little lacking at the moment; the heat's driving me mad and i'm so hungry i could eat my hand. PCAL is going as well as to be expected and i thoroughly appreciate our "free time" on campus. and most importantly of all, from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm TONIGHT we're having life drawing for the first time.

you know what that means.

NUDITY.
i'll let ya know how it goes... eep.

HELLO NEW LIFE.
i'll be back july 10th.
ɔ@lıl
: )
i'll miss everyone!

so far at PCAL:
  • i've made a few buds, i guess
  • had two meals (both were satisfactory but not entirely filling...)
  • met the RA's which, to me, are cooler than most of the students here
  • drew a portrait of my roomy for a "getting to know you exercise
  • learned how to use the KCAI Library and found more than three Adrienne Rich books (three more than Boardwalk's collection)
  • realized three weeks in communal living will be ENOUGH for me :b

Six

for starters,

it's

ORDINARY OVATION TIME!

  • lizzy spent the night

  • we had a blast with sarah, calvin, and jenny after the play-- we went to Winstead's and made a lot of noise

  • today's my last day living at my mom's

  • michael and i were talking last night and watching discovery health about this little girl with the most insane deformation i've ever seen (that sounds like a bad thing, but she was oddly endearing and made me realize i'm glad i'm normal...)

  • TGIF! : )

I just realized last night that I didn't have a "Books to Read" list... It's amazing I've been able to keep all these titles in my head, but I finally wrote them down; no worries.

I've been really relaxed lately. I'm talking like acuna matata kind of chill.

"it's our problem freeeee philosophyyyyy..."

And of course, today's ordinary ovations!

  • shakespeare fest tonight! totally free and moochable

Three

my two cents:

“Things only get better over time or else they’re meant to change.”

    ordinary ovations:
  • i slept soundly for the first time in a while

  • lizzy and i ate at noodles and company, OODLES OF NOODLES!

  • 5 days left until PCAL, 3 left of my mom

  • my hair has been naturally more wavy lately

  • i'm putting pockets in my new dress to make it ABSOLUTELY PERFECT : )
  • jenny's home today! a day earlier than expected!!
  • i picked my classes for KCAI just now!-- 9 Studio Credits, 3 Western Art History Credits, 3 Writing Workshop Credits!! wooo hooooooooo! ya.

also: i stumbled this pic. it's seems almost morbid at first, but it's SO DAMN CUTE if you think about it.

Finally, I've taken the Jungian Personality quiz for the first time in over a year. I've gone from an ENTJ to an ENFP. Meaning I'm still "Extroverted" and "iNtuitive" but have changed from being "Thinking" and "Judging" to "Feeling" and "Percieving." That's a good thing. In fact, that's probably the best combination, in my opinion. You should take the quiz. Google it.

Monday, June 15, 2009

Two

let's start off with the ordinary ovations:

  • i bought a dress for the gallery show at the end of KCAI's PCAL
  • the godiva cheesecake from starbucks is divine
  • we watched You've Got Mail-- 'nuff said
  • adam's home
  • we hung out with sarah and went to the parkville nature sanctuary and then left post-it notes all over adam (h) and brian's cars while they were working last night
  • lizzy and i watched Doubt when she slept over, FINALLY!

also, this vid is the music video of the song from the bacardi mojito commercial

One

NO. I refuse to be a pessimist!

OPTIMISM IS FINDING THE GOOD IN LIFE.

SO.

[it's the little things that count]
: )

  • the nectarines my mom got for me are perfectly ripe

  • my sister and i have been getting along quite well lately

  • i drew a picture of my license plate lunchbox out of sheer boredom, and even though i don't love it, it's still good and made me realize i'd rather be sculpting than drawing, HA
  • adam comes home today; the rest of the week should be filled with plans to finish painting his room and designing a coy fish for his bathroom
  • james brown's "get up offa that thing" is playing, i can feel the endorphins
  • sarah might get to host a foreign exchange student next year

pic of the day: an adorable house from the national. GAH, lovelovelove.
