Ninety-Five

"You don't care until you care"

"I'm not going to care until they care"

"You only care if there's something in it for you"
(just food for thought)
-----------------------

I think it's legit to say that purely representational, ie realistic art is not my cup of tea. It's not that I can't DO that, but I think everything in existance has a story, a meaning, a purpose, etc, and to deny the figurative element of something tangible is reductive. UNLESS you're doing such art in the name of technical practice, and in that case, it is completely void of any expression and undermines the piece's artistic nature.

so, THIS:

vs. THIS:

{you go gustav! ^}

Pterioida

Ebb and flow
Muffled noises of beaten rocks above
Jostling tides of blue
Of the life renewing
And suffocating
Rippling
Sea

Spindly invisible floaters
Caught in your crevice
Working our way in
Your mouth, shell’s lips
Flipping up in the tide’s force
Closing softly
Resting

I burrow into your fleshy tissue
Latching to the inner surface
Close to your core
My biological niche
Brings a burst of nacreous reality
The birth of a pearl
Minute, precious

But the rough sea tortures
Swirling oppressively at the gate
Startled
Shell swinging open
I’m washed into the current again
Away, onto the subsequent mollusk
Further ushering gems to life
